Certification

Who needs Form W-8BEN?

Non-U.S. individuals use W-8BEN to certify their foreign status, claim treaty benefits, and prevent the default 30% withholding on U.S.-source income.

  • AdSense, YouTube, and ad network publishers paid from the U.S.
  • Freelancers working for U.S. companies or platforms like Upwork
  • Creators receiving royalties from Amazon KDP, Gumroad, or app stores

Before exporting the PDF

  • Check that your legal name and address match government-issued documents.
  • Add a Foreign TIN if your country issues one; otherwise tick the “not legally required” box.
  • Select the treaty article and rate that matches your income type (services, royalties, advertising, etc.).
  • Use the signature panel to draw or type your name — digital signatures are accepted by most platforms.

After you download

  • Upload the PDF to the requester’s tax center or share it securely via email.
  • Keep a copy for at least three years or until your residency or tax status changes.
  • Re-submit the form when you change legal name, citizenship, or banking details.
  • Need help? Email support@pickrabbit.net for a manual review.
